Survivor: South Pacific Recap 11/9/11

The tribes of Savaii and Upolu have now merged on “Survivor: South Pacific to form Te Tuna. Check last week’s recap to catch up on all the fun and excitement going on in the South Pacific and find out how Keith got kicked to Redemption Island.

Cochran has now switched sides from Savaii to the former Upolu, in a shocking twist in the game. He finally tired of the abuse from Savaii so he took Coach’s advice and came to the other tribe. Ozzy is mad at this twist but Brandon intervenes to ensure that nothing negative goes down. Cochran claims that it was all for self-preservation and calls Ozzy a poor excuse for a man. Whitney approaches Cochran about how he threw the whole tribe under the bus when he voted out Keith and is getting nothing but negative feedback from the former Savaii tribe. It is Day 22 and Coach is stoked that his tribe prevailed, despite the merge. He wants to be humble but not weak, which is a great attribute in a leader. Cochran is determined to fight to the end and he may just have a chance at doing that. It is time for Dawn and Ozzy to give back the Immunity necklaces for the Immunity challenge, where they must toss coconuts, crack them, drink the water then fill a tube. All very complicated but this game is ridiculous in general so what do we expect?

Whitney, Jim, Sophie and Dawn are in the finals of the challenge for immunity but only one can win. Next to chowing down on pig fat, this is the second grossest challenge, thus leading me to believe that I could never be on this show. In the end, Jim wins immunity and it is time to decide who they will send to Redemption Island. Brandon has decided that it is time to vote out Ozzy and he informs Cochran of this because it is the perfect time for him to leave. He was cocky before but now, he’s got nothing to be cocky about. Coach does have a bond with Ozzy and does not want him to leave but feels that Ozzy has dug his own grave. Dawn is starting to see, like Cochran, that maybe going over to the former Upolu tribe is the best idea while Jim is discussing giving Ozzy the immunity necklace. He would like to get Cochran voted out and Jim knows that he doesn’t have that many nights left on the island in general. Ozzy is attempting to believe Jim but at this point, it is anyone’s game and that is being made clear.

At council, Cochran discusses the reactions from the former Savaii tribe and how they felt when he jumped tribes. Brandon acknowledges that the little people are tired of feeling like they suck at the game and are weak; Cochran admits that he has felt that way by Savaii. Jim talks about how he wants to give Ozzy immunity because he feels that Cochran has been weak and wavered in his game. Coach does not want to see Cochran leave and feels that Cochran leaving won’t change the game all that much. Ozzy brings up that on RI, he will only have to take care of himself and that makes him happier and he knows that he will be back; he will make them a nice fish then send them on their way. Will Jim give up immunity? Nope, despite telling Ozzy he would hand it down to him. Time to vote then have Probst tally them. Ozzy and Cochran are close to being tied, but it looks like Ozzy is getting ready to leave and the ninth person getting voted off: OZZY. He will have a chance to get back in the game but I kind of hope his arrogance fails him. With that, Ozzy is off to RI and the rest of the tribe is back to camp.

Ozzy is loving the scenery at RI, while hanging out with Keith and he is excited by the gigantic fish he caught. Allegedly, Ozzy is just as happy to be on RI as he would be to be back in the game. Now it is time for the next immunity challenge and Jim turns over his idol. All of the remaining Savaii members are competing: Dawn, Whitney and Jim, while the rest of the tribe is chowing down on sugary goodness and sweets. Twenty-four days in to the game and Brandon refuses to talk because he just wants to eat. Jim is the first to fail while Dawn says that she will stay in the challenge as long as possible so the others can continue stuffing their faces with muffins and donuts. She believes that despite the divides, they are still one tribe and she wants to help all of them. However, Whitney ends up winning immunity and Dawn is left feeling sad.
